I Died In His Arms Now I’ll Marry Another Chapter 21

When Callum stood on the mountaintop again, he thought of his mother’s swollen, tear-reddened eyes and of his father’s arm still shielding him as he fell.

Suddenly, he didn’t want to die anymore.

After that, he drove to the foot of the mountain every day, then slowly made his way up with a cane, bringing me food and helping me finish the labor that was too heavy for me.

I told him he was a good person, and good people were rewarded with good endings.

Callum told me he no longer planned to die.

“A soldier should do his best to live. Treating death as an escape isn’t honorable.”

I didn’t believe he had ever been a soldier.

“You have so much trouble walking. You might not even find a wife. How could you possibly have been a commander?”

He didn’t get angry. Instead, he tried to scare me.

“It’s because I can’t find a wife that I come help you every day. If you’re still willing when you grow up, I’ll take you away with me.”

“Okay.”

Back then, I wasn’t shy at all.

“You’ve helped me so much. When I grow up, I’ll marry you. Come pick me up tomorrow and we’ll go home together.”

It was nothing more than a childish joke.

But the next day, Callum still went to the school early in the morning.

He searched every classroom and dormitory, but he couldn’t find me.

My father’s assistant had taken me away overnight, leaving me no chance to say goodbye.

Callum had laughed, a sound devoid of humor.

From that day on, all he had wanted was to find the little liar who never kept her word.
