I Died In His Arms Now I’ll Marry Another Chapter 22

I had thought his promise not to kill himself was the real lie, something said just to comfort me.

I gave a guilty little smile.

“My family came for me too suddenly. I didn’t get the chance to tell you.”

Callum sat outside the window, his smile remarkably gentle.

“Do you know how the Royal Guard Investigations Division deals with lying suspects?”

My legs went weak.

He was already on his feet, walking slowly into my room.

“Every suspect has a weakness. Some fear losing power. Some fear public exposure. Some confess on their own after just a few minutes of questioning.”

Callum came to the bedside and used the book in his hand to tip up my chin.

“Let me think… how should I interrogate a little liar like you?”

He leaned closer and closer.

I didn’t dare meet his eyes.

“Callum, I’m your fiancée.”

He let out a low laugh.

“Then I’ll use the method best suited for a fiancée.”

A feather-light kiss landed at the corner of my lips.

Callum rested his forehead against mine and smiled.

“How would someone like me—who has trouble walking and might never find a wife—dare to bully his fiancée?”

My face burst into heat.

How could this man be so wicked?
