I Made His Wife’s Dress Now I’ll Marry Another Chapter 15
“No photo shoot,” I said.
Sabine’s hand paused. “It’s just to give Mom a keepsake.”
“She’s a patient, not a brand prop.”
Julien picked up the coat and checked two of the inner seams. “The armhole uses old Whitmore double-dart construction. The last time that appeared in the public archive was in Clara’s graduation collection, right before she left.”
Sabine’s face went white.
Adrian took the coat from him. “The campaign is canceled,” he said quietly.
Then he looked at Julien. “Mr. Moreau, I’d like a word with you. Alone.”
“No,” Julien said, then immediately turned the choice back to me. “Does Clara need me to stay?”
“Stay.”
Something dark flickered in Adrian’s eyes.
Then, from the doorway, a samplemaker who had worked at Whitmore for twenty years suddenly spoke up.
“The original C-17 draft is in Miss Clara’s handwriting. I was the one who traced the production copy.”
For the first time, a flash of real panic crossed Sabine’s face.
The samplemaker didn’t lower her head this time. “The credit in the promotional booklet was changed later by the brand office.”
At last, the coat was no longer just a memory of mine.
It had a master copy. It had a number.
And it had witnesses willing to speak.
