I Made His Wife’s Dress Now I’ll Marry Another Chapter 27
“You never loved me, did you?” she asked Adrian.
He didn’t turn around.
She came closer and grabbed his sleeve. “Five years. You celebrated Leo’s birthdays with him. You went to every show with me. In front of reporters, you put your coat over my shoulders. Everyone said we were the perfect couple.”
“I’m sorry,” Adrian said, his voice flat.
Sabine laughed, a frighteningly empty sound.
“Again. ‘I’m sorry.’ You felt guilty about Clara, so you married me. Now you feel guilty about me, and you want to go back to her. Adrian, do you only ever love your own sacrifice?”
At last, he turned to face her.
He didn’t deny it.
“You’re right,” he said quietly. “I’ve always been playing the part of the responsible one, because that way I never had to admit how afraid I was of finding out the truth.”
Sabine let go of his sleeve. In that moment, she lost more than a husband.
She lost the shared lie that had held their marriage together for five years.
