I Made His Wife’s Dress Now I’ll Marry Another Chapter 47

When my mother woke in the ICU, she saw me through the glass and slowly raised a hand.

With her thumb and forefinger, she mimed threading a needle.

I knew she was asking about the thimble.

I opened my palm and showed it to her.

She smiled.

On the third day, she was transferred back to a regular room. Paolo came to the hospital, but he didn’t go in.

He had put on a clean, old suit. He handed me a roll of blue tailor’s chalk.

“For Eleanor. Tell her I never signed off on that illegal order batch back then.”

“You could tell her yourself.”

Paolo looked through the glass panel in the door. “Some things are too late. No point using up a sick person’s strength just so I can feel complete.”

Then he left.

He didn’t ask to be forgiven.

Sofia hadn’t come with him. Instead, she sent me a message: *What my father said isn’t my answer. Once your mother is stable, I want to see video of the Paris studio first.*

I replied: *Of course. You can still say no after that, too.*
