I Made His Wife’s Dress Now I’ll Marry Another Chapter 58
Three days later, every new royalty payment from the nine silhouettes began flowing into the supervised account.
Whitmore could no longer route the money into Sabine’s name, and they could no longer use the frozen trust to pressure me.
The brand quietly removed the phrase “completed by the family creative team” from its statement.
That was when Sabine returned to New York.
She asked to meet me at the bakery near the hospital. She had no child in her arms, and she wore no makeup.
“The lawyers say you can go after the design bonuses I received over the last six years,” she said without preamble.
“That will be handled by my counsel.”
“Do you really have to push me until I have nothing left?”
“Your custody arrangement, your home, and your child’s financial support are not part of the copyright case.”
She stared at me.
“You didn’t ask Adrian to stop paying for Leo?”
“That’s between him and Leo.”
Sabine looked at me as if she couldn’t comprehend why I wasn’t using a child to take revenge on her.
After a long moment, she said quietly, “Grandfather told me to hold the line on team authorship. He said that as long as I didn’t recant, the board would preserve my brand ambassador contract.”
“So you reposted the statement.”
She gripped her coffee cup until her knuckles whitened. “I’d already lost my marriage. I couldn’t lose my work, too.”
“Those nine silhouettes were never your work.”
The familiar resentment flared in her eyes, then slowly drained away, extinguished by my calm.
“What do you want me to do?” she asked.
“Say what you know firsthand. Not one word more.”
“And then?”
“Then you take responsibility for your part.”
I got up and left.
I was not going to choose silence or confession for her.
