I Made His Wife’s Dress Now I’ll Marry Another Chapter 59

Before the second hearing, Grandfather demanded my father sign a statement.

It claimed the nine master patterns had always been kept by the company and that my father had mistakenly turned them over to me as if they were personal papers.

My father sat with that single page in the old house’s study all night.

The next morning, he brought it to court.

He did not sign it.

“I gave Clara the key myself,” he told the judge. “And I myself removed the master patterns from the old archive room. The board minutes already acknowledge she is the original designer.”

Grandfather lurched to his feet. “Charles!”

My father didn’t look at him.

“For the last six years, I jointly managed Clara’s royalty trust. I know exactly why her money was frozen. And I know my father used it to pressure her into accepting a marriage arrangement with the Cross family.”

This wasn’t a secret.

Grandfather had said as much openly at that dinner table.

But until that moment, my father had never been willing to put what he heard into sworn testimony.

Grandfather’s lawyer immediately asked for a recess.

Then, from the back row, Sabine rose. “Me, too.”

Her voice was soft, but the entire room fell still.

“The original C-17 draft wasn’t mine. Neither was the ivory hospital coat.”

Grandfather turned on her. “This brand fed you for twenty years.”

“And so you told me that as long as I stood in front, the issue of whose name was on the label didn’t need to be questioned.” Tears spilled down her face. “But every time a reporter asked me where the inspiration came from, I knew I was lying.”

For once, she didn’t use her asthma, her tears, or Leo to finish the sentence for her.

“I accept the correction,” she said. “And I accept whatever the court decides I have to repay.”
