I Signed Away Eight Million To Leave Him Chapter 21

Graham scrolled frantically.

Same birth date.

Same former address.

Even the full middle name was an exact match.

This was his Mara.

Two days ago, she had married Eli Torres.

“No…”

The blood drained from his face. It felt as if a hand had closed around his throat.

The laughter of the guests, the music—it all came through the glass from far away, thin and unreal.

He sprang to his feet so fast the chair overturned behind him.

His phone nearly slipped from his hand.

“Eli Torres…”

His voice trembled as he said the name. Then, losing all control, he stormed back into the ballroom.

“Move!”

He shoved guests aside, knocking over a waiter’s tray. Champagne glasses shattered across the floor as everyone turned to stare.

Sloane stood in the middle of the dance floor and asked coldly, “Where are you going?”

“St. Petersburg.”

Graham ripped off his tie, not even bothering with his jacket.

“She got married. Mara married someone else—I have to go find her!”

The room fell dead silent.

The smile vanished completely from Sloane’s face.

She didn’t chase him. She didn’t demand an explanation. She simply took off the wedding ring she had worn for less than an hour and placed it on a passing waiter’s tray.

Graham had barely reached the doors when a man in a suit stepped into his path.

“Mr. Vale.”

It was Sloane’s lawyer.

He held out a document.

“Under the prenuptial agreement you signed with Ms. Mercer, in light of your public abandonment of your spouse at your wedding and your stated intention to pursue your former fiancée, Ms. Mercer is filing for divorce, effective immediately.”

Graham didn’t take it.

The lawyer released his grip, and the papers fluttered to the floor around Graham’s feet.

“She is also invoking the property clause and seeking division of the marital home.”

Graham turned his head slowly.

Across the ballroom, Sloane was looking at him. There was no grief in her eyes. Only disgust.

The bride he had married today wanted a divorce today.

But he couldn’t even make himself care.

Graham looked back down at his phone, his hand shaking so badly he could barely hold it steady.

He refreshed the page.

Still married.

He refreshed it again.

Eli Torres’s name was still there.

His knees gave out. He dropped among the scattered divorce papers, refreshing the page over and over.

But the cold line of text never changed:

**Marriage Status: Married. Spouse: Eli Torres.**
