I Was The Perfect Queen But He Forgot My Name Chapter 15

The gala was held at Red Plum Lake Manor on the outskirts of the capital.

The winter glass conservatory was filled with red plum blossoms, while the lake outside lay frozen over. It was a lovely place to clear one’s head.

I wore a dark red gown and arrived on time with Tessa.

As I rounded a red plum tree along the glass corridor, I ran straight into Iris.

She was standing on tiptoe, trying to reach a high branch. The moment she saw me, her foot slipped, and she fell at the edge of the non-slip mat.

Looking up at me with tears in her eyes, she said, “Miss Carver. It’s been a long time.”

I reached out a hand to help her up.

But she recoiled as if I might hurt her, twisting her ankle in the process.

I withdrew my hand, unable to understand why she was so afraid of me.

I had never taken revenge on her. As far as I was concerned, Julian bore the greater responsibility for our broken engagement.

“It has been a long time.”

Footsteps sounded behind us.

Julian helped Iris to her feet and took off his coat, draping it over her shoulders. The moment he saw me, his face darkened.

“If you’re unhappy with me, then come at me. Don’t take it out on her.”
