I Was The Perfect Queen But He Forgot My Name Chapter 49
Iris set a willow branch on the table and said that, with no friends in the capital, she had no idea who else to give a farewell gift to.
Then she began to reminisce about the past year.
She was only the daughter of an ordinary Healer from the Willow Creek pack, raised in a remote town. When she found Rowan, his clothing and bearing had told her he was someone important, and she decided her chance had come.
Her father had wanted to treat the amnesia, but she had stopped him.
When the guard arrived, the whole village watched her climb into a royal vehicle. She had been thrilled that she was the one who had found the prince.
“I admit I was vain and selfish. I wanted to leave that little town. You were all born with everything. How could you understand that if I didn’t seize that chance, I might never get out?”
I was unmoved.
“Wanting wealth and a better life isn’t wrong. Hurting someone to get it, and then asking the person you hurt to understand you—that’s what’s wrong.”
Rowan, too, had once had nothing.
That still did not erase what he had done to me.
Iris slowly calmed and picked up the fruit wine on the table.
“I’m leaving tomorrow. Let me drink a toast to you, and to everyone in the capital.”
She raised the glass toward me.
