I Was The Perfect Queen But He Forgot My Name Chapter 59

Evelyn frowned.

“You’re nothing like him. Sooner or later your father will notice, and when he does, I’ll be dragged down with you.”

“He already knows.”

Panic crossed Evelyn’s face.

After learning that King Arthur had not punished Rowan, her first concern was still that Celeste would come after her over Adrian’s injuries.

The more she spoke, the angrier she became. Suddenly, she raised a hand and slapped Rowan across the face.

A red mark bloomed on his already pale cheek, blood still staining his lips.

He watched his mother leave in silence.

I didn’t know whether I should come out. But he gathered himself almost at once and walked over to me.

This time, no one interrupted.

He took another smoky-violet crystal badge from his pocket.

It was the one with the crown upheld by the cedar tree—the very badge Julian had taken with him.

Only then did I realize that underneath Rowan’s coat, his clothes were soaking wet, water still dripping from his cuffs.

He had just recovered the badge from the freezing Lorne River and had come straight here to protect me without even changing.

“Genevieve, I found it.”

He tried to hand me the badge.

His fingers touched some hidden mechanism, and suddenly the flawless crystal split apart from within.

One shard after another fell into the snow.
