I Was The Perfect Queen But He Forgot My Name Chapter 61

Adrian launched a rebellion.

He allied himself with Victor Kane, Alpha of the Ironcliff pack, in an attempt to seize the royal castle and the capital.

Victor had once commanded the border forces and controlled a highly trained territorial militia. The men who had assassinated Julian and later attacked Martin had also come from Ironcliff.

The Royal Guard entered full wartime readiness. Several key councilors’ residences were surrounded, including the Cedar Ridge estate.

That was when Mara came to our house.

She claimed she was inviting us to spend a holiday at her private farm outside the capital.

I looked at her in confusion.

She pulled me into a corner with no surveillance.

“Rowan helped me once. I promised I’d protect you. The capital is about to go up in flames. Come with me.”

When Rowan had introduced Adrian to Mara, he had described him as wealthy, high-ranking, promiscuous, and likely to die early.

Mara had considered that a very favorable political marriage and therefore owed him one.

At last, we properly exchanged names.

She was Mara Black.

I was Genevieve Carver.

Mara didn’t just take me. She also took my parents, my grandfather, and every relative still at the estate.

When the rebels tried to stop the cars, she patted her visibly pregnant belly.

“This is Adrian’s only child and the only grandchild of the Stoneplain Alpha. Go ahead. Hit me once and see what happens.”

No one dared risk it.

Once I got into the car, I found a good-luck charm lying on the seat beside me.

One word had been written on it: Dawn.
