If Your Heart Doesn’t Lean Towards Me I Don’t Want It Chapter 07

I blocked Ellis and Tessa.

Lucian took excellent care of me, and I was discharged in less than ten days.

As he drove, he said, “I have an empty apartment, great location, good layout. You and your mother can stay there for now.”

I nodded my thanks. “Can we stop by my old place first? I need to get my documents and a few personal things.”

Lucian was quiet for a moment before turning the car in that direction.

The car pulled up to the familiar apartment building.

As I got out, Lucian called after me.

“I’m coming with you.”

I turned and gave him a small smile.

“It’s okay. I’ll be quick.”

Under his worried gaze, I went upstairs.

The moment I opened the door, a wall of stale cigarette smoke hit me.

The living room curtains were drawn. Empty beer bottles littered the floor.

The ashtray on the coffee table was overflowing.

Ellis was sitting on the floor, looking like a wreck.

The instant he saw me, his eyes went red.

“Coralie. You’re finally back.”

I said nothing.

“Where have you been? You just vanished. It was like you’d dropped off the face of the earth.”

He smelled of smoke and stale alcohol, and his words tumbled out in a rush.

“I went to every hospital in the city. Your mom was gone. You were gone. You didn’t answer my calls, you didn’t reply to my texts.”
