Kill Him Nine Times Chapter 09
Matteo walked over and took my hand.
His palm was slick with sweat.
His fingers were trembling.
He gripped my hand so hard it seemed like the only way he could keep himself from giving the game away.
The moment we stepped inside the cabin, he let me go.
His friends followed us in, still confused, along with a red-eyed Genevieve.
Matteo said he wanted to give me a gift.
Something to mark our first day together.
I smiled and watched him rummage through the luggage scattered around the cabin.
A moment later, he raised a fish knife and shouted, “You crazy bitch! You killed me three times—I’m not letting it happen again!”
His friends all froze.
They had just come out for a party—to drink, eat, and make a game out of me.
No one had wanted things to turn deadly.
Everyone backed away.
Even Genevieve forgot to cry and just screamed.
She stumbled backward over a stool and fell to the floor, shaking.
In the middle of the chaos, I was the only one standing perfectly still.
I smiled, a little disappointed.
“So you only agreed to be my boyfriend to trick me.”
The expression on Matteo’s face grew harder.
