Kill Him Nine Times Chapter 16
The equipment room vanished.
The world broke into countless fragments.
Every shard reflected my blood-spattered face.
When the sixth loop began, I found myself standing in the middle of a ring of heart-shaped candles.
I was saying to Matteo, “Matteo, can I be your girlfriend?”
The timeline had rolled back another two years.
It was the start of freshman year of college.
The system had made me confess to Matteo.
According to it, as long as I became his girlfriend, I could return to my world.
Leave this absurd nightmare behind.
Just like before, Matteo was supposed to laugh out loud.
The people around him would laugh too, mocking me for daring to pursue the eldest son of the DeLuca family.
Matteo would even stomp out the candles, stand in front of me, and say, “You? You think you can be my girlfriend?”
“Your job is to follow me around obediently. That’s all.”
But this time, the instant I finished my confession, Matteo cried out.
One hand flew to the back of his head.
There was no wound there.
But it was as though he could still feel the crushing blow.
