Kill Him Nine Times Chapter 18

Kill Him Nine Times Chapter 18

There were still messages from Matteo on my phone.

[Cosima Vale, I underestimated you. This time, let’s see how a broke student like you fights the DeLuca family.]

[If my family wants you dead, crushing you will be as easy as stepping on a bug.]

The system wouldn’t stop talking in my head.

“I told you not to kill him, but you wouldn’t listen. See what happened? It’s too easy for the DeLuca family to deal with you.”

I asked it, “Then why didn’t you give me a decent background? Why not let him see what it’s like to be poor for once?”

When I woke up in this world, I had entered this body directly.

As for where the original girl had gone, the system had never given me a straight answer.

The girl’s life had been terrible.

Her parents barely cared about her.

She had grown up in some remote little town, surviving on her own for years.

The only real money in the family came from the change her grandmother got from collecting cans for recycling.

Her grandmother would use that money to buy her a few cheap candies.

That was probably the only gift she’d ever received as a child.

But according to the system, the only meaning a life like that had was to be placed in front of an outstanding rich man.

The system had explained, “In stories, protagonists are naturally drawn to the strong. Her circumstances have to be worse, or the target won’t seem as attractive.”

I had cursed it out on the spot.

“Bullshit. You give all the resources and power to one man, then tell me to look up to him? What kind of task is that?”

“If the protagonist had the power, she wouldn’t be staring at his status. She’d choose who she liked for herself.”

The moment I finished speaking, footsteps sounded outside my door.

A lot of people, moving fast, coming up the stairs.

I put a finger to my lips, signaling the system to be quiet.

I lived on the seventh floor.

The footsteps got closer.

Those were not ordinary residents.

It sounded like a group of trained men closing in.

A few seconds later, the old, worn door was kicked in with one blow.
