My Broke Husband Bought His Mistress A Mansion Chapter 04

I called 911.

By the time we reached the ER, Noah could barely breathe.

I stayed by his side, gripping his hand tightly.

The doctors stabilized him and told me he had asthma.

That was when I learned this wasn’t the first time.

Noah had been having trouble breathing for months.

He’d never told me or Ethan.

“Doctors cost money,” he whispered. “You and Dad already work so hard.”

My eyes burned.

I stepped into the hallway and called Ethan.

“Noah had an asthma attack. We’re in the ER.”

“Please come, Noah needs his father.”

There was a pause. Then Ethan sighed.

“Claire, not now.”

“Lily is still being monitored. Stop turning this into some competition between the kids.”

He hung up.

My heart sank.

A few minutes later, a text came through from Vanessa. Then another.

Screenshots of bank transfers, vacations, designer bags, jewelry.

【Ethan has always taken good care of us.】

【You should stop making things harder for him.】

I scrolled through the receipts.

One charge stopped me.

A diamond bracelet.

It cost dozens of times more than what Noah’s doctor said we’d need for months of treatment.

While my son had been hiding his symptoms because he was afraid we couldn’t afford a doctor, Ethan had spent that much on a gift for another woman.

I saved every screenshot and sent them to my lawyer.

Then another message came in. Ethan.

【So this is what you wanted, isn’t it? A little more money, a little more comfort, and you’ll stop making a scene.】

【Once Lily is stable, I’ll come home and give you everything you need. Then you can drop this ridiculous divorce talk.】

I stared at the messages, furious.

Money. He still thought this was about money.

“Noah, as soon as you’re discharged, we’re leaving.”

“From now on, we don’t need Dad anymore.”
