My Cruel Husband Let Me Die So I Married His Brother Chapter 10

“Griffin.” She swallowed hard. “Forget it. I’m not pressing charges. I’m scared. Can we just go home? Daphne’s insane.”

“Not so fast.”

I leaned back in my chair and looked at her.

“If you go home and start threatening suicide again, that will somehow become my fault, too.”

“Leo, keep going. If he won’t talk, cut off all ten of his fingers.”

The man was so terrified he pissed himself. He threw himself to the ground, sobbing.

“I’ll talk! I’ll tell you everything!”

“I didn’t kidnap Ava. She’s my wife. We had a wedding and a kid together—we just never made it legal.”

“She thought I was poor, so she ran off to find you, Griffin.”

“She lied and told you she was the one who saved you. I was scared you’d find out the truth, and I didn’t want our child growing up without a mother, so I took her back. Who knew she’d just run off again.”

At that, he glared at Ava.

“Me, assault her? She was the one who came on to me, trying to get me to let my guard down so she could escape.”

From the moment the man mentioned the blood transfusions, Griffin had gone rigid.

He turned to Ava, his voice trembling.

“You weren’t the one who gave me blood? Then who was?”

“Why did you lie to me?”

Ava’s eyes filled with tears as she shook her head over and over.

But her mouth had been gagged, and she couldn’t form a single word.

Her gaze darted around the room, refusing to meet Griffin’s.

Leo let out a heavy sigh.

“The one who gave you blood that day was Daphne.”

“After you were injured, she lost so much blood for you that she fainted that same night. It took her half a month before she could even get out of bed again.”

“If Ava had really been the one who saved you, how could Daphne not even know who she was?”

Griffin braced himself against the table to stay upright.

If I had been the one who saved him all along, then what, exactly, had he done to me in our last life? And what had he done this time?

I stood up.

“Now that everything’s clear, I’m leaving.”

“Dante will be back soon. He’ll worry if he can’t find me.”
