My Fiancé Postponed Our Wedding So I Married The Don He Feared Chapter 03
“Olivia, do you even know what you’re saying?”
Damian’s voice was tight with barely contained fury.
“Have you lost your mind? Just to spite me, you have to take it this far? Make everyone uncomfortable, and then you’re satisfied?”
“You embarrassed me first.”
I looked him dead in the eye.
“You’re the one who listens to everything Bianca says, aren’t you? Puts her first in everything? Then keep listening to her.”
“She only said this day next year is good for your family to register. She never said you had to register with me.”
“Next year, you can register with whoever you want. But today, I’m registering with someone, because I checked too, and today is the best day for my family.”
“Olivia, do you have to be this unreasonable?”
Damian finally exploded.
“Just because I went along with one thing Bianca said, you’re going to register with a stranger? Where does that leave our five years together?”
“You’re too selfish, too heartless!”
I raised my hand and slapped him. Hard.
The crack of it echoed through the air outside the registration office.
“What right do you have to blame me?”
“We agreed to register today. Your sister makes up some nonsense out of thin air, and you don’t hesitate for a second to postpone everything. You leave me and my parents standing here, humiliated.”
“In your heart, I’ve never mattered more than a single word from Bianca. Neither has our marriage.”
Bianca’s eyes immediately reddened.
She grabbed Damian’s sleeve, looking wounded beyond measure.
“Damian, I didn’t mean to… I was just afraid it would affect your luck. I really was just thinking about the family. Why can’t Olivia understand me?”
“She’s saying these things about me now, and I’m really, really hurt…”
She played the victim with practiced ease, just as she stirred up conflict with practiced ease.
The moment Damian saw her tears, his heart ached. He whipped around and snapped at me, “That’s enough! Bianca already apologized. How long are you going to keep attacking her?”
“One year. What’s wrong with waiting one year? If you really loved me, you wouldn’t make a fuss over something this small.”
The Morettis looked uncomfortable too, but they still chose to speak up for their own children.
“Olivia, don’t be upset. Damian and Bianca are still young. Sometimes they don’t think things through. Talk it out properly. Don’t break up on impulse.”
“Bianca has always had good instincts, ever since she was little. We’ve always trusted what she says. It’s just one year. It’s really not a big deal.”
Of course. They were the real family. I was just an outsider who could be asked to be understanding at any time.
“Damian, I said we’re done. Do you understand me?”
I pulled off the engagement ring and threw it on the ground.
“I’m done playing this game. Stay as far away from me as possible.”
Damian’s eyes went red instantly.
He lunged forward and grabbed my wrist.
“Olivia, are you messing with me?”
“The invitations are sent. The venue is booked. Just because the registration is delayed one year, you’re breaking up with me?”
“I don’t agree!”
I found it laughable.
“Since when does this require your agreement?”
I glanced at Bianca and added coldly, “Since your whole family hangs on Bianca’s every word, and she’s not even your real sister, don’t let the venue go to waste. Just marry her.”
Damian lost it completely.
He grabbed me, lifted me bodily, and turned to leave.
“Olivia, you’re not thinking straight right now. I won’t hold it against you. But today, you’re leaving with me.”
I fought with everything I had.
“Let go of me! Damian, put me down!”
Just then, the sharp but controlled sound of brakes came from the end of the street.
Everyone turned instinctively.
A black Bentley pulled up smoothly, right at the front entrance of the registration office.
The next second, a tall, impeccably built man stepped out of the car.
He wore a perfectly tailored black suit, his features sharp and cold, his presence so commanding that the entire street seemed to fall silent.
The man behind him murmured, “Boss.”
In that moment, even the people at Damian’s side changed color.
He lifted his gaze to me.
“I’m here.”
He strode over, and before anyone could react, he’d already pulled me out of Damian’s arms and held me securely against his chest.
He looked at Damian, eyes like ice.
“Who do you think you are, putting your hands on my wife?”
Still shaking, I pressed close to him and whispered, “You actually came?”
He looked down at me.
“Why wouldn’t I?”
Gabriel’s voice was low and clear.
“Olivia, you said before noon, the first man to arrive registers with you.”
“I’m first.”
