But with the enhanced hearing of the wolves present, every single person heard her.
The smile vanished from Tucker’s face.
Riverbend’s Beta scowled.
In the tense silence that followed, someone shoved Chiara hard from behind.
Her mother’s voice was sharp with urgency.
“Chiara Moretti, your father and both our Packs are watching. Say that again.”
Chiara stumbled, steadying herself as a hot wave of anger rose in her chest.
Then Griffin spoke.
“Mrs. Moretti. Elder Moretti.” His voice cut through the tension like a blade. “This courtship was arranged without her consent. This can be discussed another day.”
He took a half step forward, positioning himself between Chiara and Tucker.
