My Guardian Married My Sister But I’m His Alpha Chapter 17

“Let’s go.”

Chiara looked down at his hand.

Long fingers, strong knuckles. No wedding ring. No mate mark.

His expression was steady, unreadable.

All she could see behind his eyes were the words from three years ago—*I owe you one*—and the ones he had just spoken: *Let’s go*.

She placed her hand in his.

His skin was warm and dry.

He didn’t tighten his grip in a show of possession. Only after she made the choice to hold on did his fingers close around hers, and he led her out of the chapel.

As they passed Griffin, Chiara kept her eyes forward.

But she could feel his gaze on her, heavy and intense.

Francesca still had her arm linked with Griffin’s. Her face was paler now, but her expression remained perfectly composed.

As Chiara passed, Francesca called her name.

“Chiara.”

Chiara didn’t stop.

The black Bentley pulled away from the chapel, the figures on the steps receding in the rearview mirror.

Until they turned a corner, and the man in the black Nightfall Alpha uniform vanished from sight.

“Hard to leave?”

Sterling leaned back in his seat, his voice level.

“No,” Chiara said.

He closed his eyes, as if resting.

After a moment, he spoke again. “Your brother-in-law didn’t look at me like a stranger.”

Chiara didn’t answer.

He didn’t seem to expect her to.

“Chiara Moretti,” he said, opening his eyes to look at her. “The most difficult part of this little play isn’t Tucker.”

“It’s Griffin.”

Beyond the window, the city began to light up as evening approached.

Chiara knew he was right.

Tucker was just a pawn.

The real challenge was still back at the Moretti Pack estate.

And what unsettled her most was the memory of Griffin stepping in front of her in the chapel.

Followed by the memory of his silence the moment Francesca took his arm.

Three years later, he was still the same.

He would step forward at the critical moment.

And then, at the even more critical one, he would step back.
