My Guardian Married My Sister But I’m His Alpha Chapter 22

A hot sting burned behind Chiara’s eyes.

So he remembered. He remembered it all.

The amusement park.

The cheap steel ring from the game booth.

The foolish, hopeful thing she’d said in the passenger seat on the drive home.

He remembered.

But what did remembering change?

He had still married Francesca.

“This ring doesn’t mean anything anymore.”

Chiara took the ring from his hand and placed it on a nearby table.

“The person I wanted to marry when I was sixteen wouldn’t have married my sister and let me leave my own Pack like an outcast.”

“That man wouldn’t have proposed to someone else right after my father’s funeral, and he wouldn’t have stood by and watched while I was pressured into an alliance with Riverbend.”

The color drained from Griffin’s face.

“Chiara, what happened three years ago—”

“I don’t want to hear it,” she cut in. “You said you had no explanation.”

“If that’s true, then don’t ever try to explain.”

She turned, coffee in hand, and walked toward the elevator.

He didn’t follow.

Just before the doors closed, Chiara saw him bend down, pick up the ring, and curl his fingers around it.

Back in her room, she stood with her back against the door for a long time.

Her phone buzzed.

Sterling.

*Dinner at seven. I’ll pick you up.*

Chiara replied with one word.
