My Guardian Married My Sister But I’m His Alpha Chapter 68

That night, Nightfall called an emergency Pack meeting.

Three elders were absent from the long table.

Their names had appeared in Anthony’s funding records, and their seats had already been frozen by the Council.

Her grandfather sat at the head of the table, his expression darker than Chiara had ever seen it.

“Anthony has been dealt with. The rest of this mess must not spread any further.”

“Nightfall cannot survive another upheaval.”

Chiara sat in the seat that had once belonged to her father.

“So what happens now?”

“So Griffin remains acting Alpha, and you resume your inheritance seat. The family business proceeds as usual.” Her grandfather looked at her dismissively. “You’ve only just returned. You don’t understand Pack affairs. This is not the time for grandstanding.”

In the past, Chiara would have fallen silent.

Her grandfather had always known how to use age, experience, and Pack hierarchy to make her feel that speaking up was a form of childish rebellion.

This time, she placed Anthony’s funding records on the table.

“By ‘proceeds as usual,’ do you mean allowing the people who took his money to continue voting on Nightfall’s future?”

“The voting rights of these three have already been frozen. Any proxy authority held in their names must be revoked as well.”

Her grandfather’s cane struck the floor.

“You want to replace half the Council in one night?”

“I’m not replacing them,” Chiara said calmly. “Their own signatures and payment records removed them from this table.”

A few of the uninvolved elders lowered their heads and began reading the documents.

No one spoke up to defend the accused.

Her grandfather turned to Griffin.

“Say something.”

Griffin had been sitting silently in the acting Alpha’s seat.

At his grandfather’s command, he reached up, unpinned the insignia from his chest, and placed it on the table.

“My acting term was to last until the Moretti heir returned.”

“Chiara is back.”

Her grandfather’s face darkened.

“You’re stepping down?”

“I am submitting myself for reconfirmation,” Griffin said. “Nightfall can decide for itself who its next Alpha should be. Not a marriage alliance. And not me deciding for her.”

Every eye in the room turned to Chiara.

She did not reach for the insignia.

“I will stand for confirmation.”

“But before that, I am going to do what the Moretti seat was designed to do.”

She signed the resolution revoking the proxy authority of the three implicated elders.

The pen never hesitated.
