One Night With Her Destroyed Their Perfect Futures Chapter 01
The Night Before Finals
The day before Senior Finals, the prettiest girl in our class offers to take every guy to a hotel and pop their cherryas a “stress reliever.”
Every single one of them says yes.
What they don’t know is that Vivian Lane is HIV positive.
This morning, I overheard her talking to a friend outside the coffee shop near campus.
“Why should I be the only one stuck with this? Why do they all get to go to Harvard and Yale while I’m headed for community college? If I’m going down, I’m taking every last one of them with me.”
In my last life, I tried to stop it. I begged. I screamed. I blocked the door.
And Ethan Cross, my boyfriend since freshman year, slapped me so hard across the face I saw stars.
The rest of the class laughed, and I swallowed my pride and called their parents. Every single one of them got grounded that night, dragged to the exam hall the next morning, and scored high enough for Ivy League admissions.
But Vivian lost it when her plan fell apart. She climbed onto the school roof, pretending she was going to jump, then slipped and fell four stories. Paralyzed from the waist down for life.
Ethan snapped and had me kidnapped and brought to an underground club, where a group of guys took turns raping me until I couldn’t walk.
My parents tried to go to the police. They were intercepted on the road and beaten to death.
Ethan filmed it. Held his phone steady the whole time.
The next day, he walked into my hospital room and pressed play.
“Scarlett, I’m going to make your whole family pay for what happened to Vivian.”
I dragged myself to the rooftop and jumped.
The last thing I saw before I died was the smile on Ethan’s face.
Now I’m blinking awake, and it’s the day before Senior Finals again.
I watch Vivian sashay between the desks, twirling her hair, inviting every guy in class to a hotel room tonight.
I smile.
This time around, they can do whatever the hell they want.
“Scarlett, can you stop being such a buzzkill?”
Ethan’s voice hits me like a slap.
“You won’t even sleep with me, your own boyfriend, and now you won’t let Vivian help me out either? You’re just jealous because every guy here likes her more than you.”
The exact same words. The exact same tone. The same line he fed me in my last life.
That’s how I know I’ve come back.
Right now, Vivian glides over like she owns the room. She tilts her head, doe-eyed, voice dripping honey.
“Scar, come on. Finals are tomorrow. Everyone’s stressed out of their minds. If they don’t blow off some steam tonight, they’ll bomb the test. I’m doing this for *them*.”
She pouts, batting her lashes at the room.
“You wouldn’t deny the guys a little stress relief just because you’re jealous… right?”
The classroom erupts in applause and wolf whistles.
