One Night With Her Destroyed Their Perfect Futures Chapter 03
Exam Day
The next morning, I get to the testing center early.
The parking lot is already full of parents pacing back and forth, checking their phones, whispering to each other. Every boy in our class has been missing since last night.
The second Ethan’s mom spots me, she rushes over and grabs my wrist so hard her nails dig in.
“Scarlett, honey. Ethan didn’t come home last night. He texted that he was going out and then his phone went dead. You two are always together. Where is he?”
My mom, standing beside me, gives me a worried look. “Scarlett, you must know something…”
“I don’t,” I say calmly. “I’m sorry, Mrs. Cross.”
“His favorite places? A friend’s house? Anything?” Mr. Cross wipes sweat from his forehead.
I offer a thin smile. “I really have no idea.”
They leave looking like ghosts.
After they’re gone, Dad pokes his head out of the car. “You and Ethan fighting? Since when do you not know where he is?”
I just smile at him and grab my bag.
Of course I know where Ethan is.
Right now he’s still tangled up in Vivian Lane’s hotel sheets with the rest of them.
But every time I think about helping, I see my parents’ faces in that video, bloodied and gasping as they die on the asphalt while Ethan holds the camera steady.
Let these ungrateful bastards enjoy their little party.
Mrs. Patterson, our homeroom teacher, rushes over in a panic. “Scarlett, not a single boy from our class has checked in. Think. Where would they go?”
I shake my head. “I really don’t know, Mrs. Patterson.”
She sighs, patting my shoulder. “You’re a good kid. You’d tell me if you knew.”
Then, sixty seconds before the first bell, Ethan appears at the edge of the parking lot.
Behind him, every guy in our class stumbles forward in a sad, limping herd. They’re leaning on each other, faces white as paper, legs barely working.
Mrs. Patterson’s jaw drops. “What happened to you? Did you all get food poisoning?”
Ethan leans against the wall, one hand on his lower back, wearing a smug but exhausted grin. “Relax, Mrs. P. Vivian helped all of us… lose our virginity last night.”
“Yeah,” another guy pipes up, gray-faced and swaying. “I feel kinda weak, but mentally? I’ve never felt better.”
“Best night of my life.”
Mrs. Patterson stares at them, processing.
Then her face goes red with anger.
“Are you *insane*?!” Her voice cracks. “You’re students! What you did is reckless. Do you understand what happens if one of you has an STD? What if someone has *HIV*? Do you have any idea what cross-infection means?”
“You want to throw away your entire futures for ONE NIGHT?”
Dead silence fills the lot as the guys shift uncomfortably and glance at each other.
Vivian limps over, yes, she is actually limping, and latches onto Mrs. Patterson’s arm with that signature baby voice. “Mrs. P, don’t be mad~ I was just helping the guys relax before the big test~”
“Besides, we’re all clean! Good kids from good families. No one has anything gross.”
Mrs. Patterson yanks her arm free. “When exams are over, every single one of you is getting a full STD screening. No exceptions.”
She practically shoves them toward the building.
They barely make it to the exam.
After the last test, I’m walking home when they corner me.
Twenty-something guys form a wall across the sidewalk. Their eyes are full of hate.
Before I can speak, Ethan’s palm cracks across my face.
The sting explodes across my cheek. I taste blood.
“You *snitch*. You told Mrs. Patterson and our parents, didn’t you?”
“Told them what?” I genuinely don’t understand.
“Don’t play dumb!” Another guy shoves me. “You’ve always been jealous of Vivian. Remember when she took us to that club and you ratted us out to the school? Same thing!”
That time, Vivian had pissed off some guys at an underground bar and Ethan rallied the whole class to go fight for her. I told Mrs. Patterson because I was terrified they’d get killed.
And this is how they repaid me.
Vivian appears, tears streaming prettily down her face. “Scar, I know you’re jealous of my popularity with guys. If you want to get back at me, fine, but why drag everyone else into it?”
“Now the whole school knows. We’re humiliated.”
Ethan grabs a fistful of my hair and slams my head against the brick wall.
I crumple to the ground, curling into a ball as kicks rain down from every direction.
Then a heel presses onto my hand. Vivian crouches down, smirking.
“Beating her up is boring. She exposed our secret and embarrassed us, so let’s embarrass *her*.”
“Strip her. Film it. Play it at her wedding someday.”
Laughter and cheering erupt around me.
Two guys pin my arms. Vivian’s nails rip my jacket open. Phones come out, cameras rolling, dozens of lenses pointed at me.
She grabs my chin, leans close, and whispers: “See? Every guy in this class would treat you like a dog just to make me happy.”
They’re about to go further when Mrs. Patterson’s voice cuts through like a knife.
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! Get to the clinic for your screenings. NOW!”
They scatter like cockroaches.
I’m left on the ground, bruised and bleeding, with my clothes torn.
After they’re gone, I wipe the blood from my face and laugh.
They have no idea what’s waiting for them.
Every family in this school is middle class at best. Their parents took out loans and worked overtime to put them through AP classes. When those parents find out their golden boys caught HIV from a one-night orgy.
Let’s see who’s laughing then.
