She Framed Me As Unfit So I’ll See Her In Court Chapter 25

My lawyer did not sit down right away.

“All of this began with an edited video. Ms. Carter produced the full footage to clear her name, and that was called making excuses. She reported the leak of her address to the police, and that was called overreacting and stirring up trouble.”

He gestured toward the screen.

“But now, malicious editing, framing at school, a fake sexual advertisement, and anonymous reports have all been linked into a single chain of evidence by timestamps, surveillance footage, 911 audio, and complete chat records.”

He looked toward opposing counsel.

“The evidence is here, and the police reports are here. Counsel, do you still maintain that this is merely a family conflict suitable for mediation?”

No one answered.

I stepped down from the witness stand and passed by Caleb.

His lips moved, as if he wanted to call my name. I didn’t even look at him.

The court took a brief recess.

When the judge returned to the bench, everyone in the courtroom rose.

“Based on the evidence currently before the court, this court grants Ms. Nia Carter a temporary protective order against Sloan Mercer and appoints a custody evaluator to investigate the circumstances in both households.”

The judge turned a page, his voice carrying clearly across the entire courtroom.

“The court further orders that the temporary protective order takes effect immediately. Until the next hearing, Mr. Caleb Carter’s visitation with Maya Carter shall occur only in the presence of a court-approved supervisor.”

A wave of barely contained murmuring spread through the gallery.

Caleb went rigid.

Sloan sat motionless, the last trace of color drained from her face. Her fingers dug fiercely into Caleb’s arm, as if clinging to her last support.

But Caleb did not clasp her hand back.

In that moment, she had not yet fallen, but there was already nothing left she could hold on to.
