The Alpha’s Daughter Chapter 06

The Alpha’s Daughter Chapter 06

Alpha Rowan raised his head and frowned slightly.

“Aurora? What happened?”

“Father!” I pinched my own thigh hard. “I liked Lucian before, and I was afraid he did not like me, so I asked you to send someone to ask him first. He agreed then. I thought he was willing to be engaged to me.”

“But now, when the engagement is about to happen, he tells me the one he has always loved is my cousin Selene. They already agreed that even after he marries me, he will keep Selene outside as his woman. Lucian also said he would never love me, that there is only Selene in his heart.”

Alpha Rowan was furious. “Is this true?”

I cried messily, tears and snot together. “If he had told me earlier that he loved someone else, I would never have forced him. But he already had a woman in his heart and still deceived you, Father.”

Alpha Rowan looked at Lucian coldly.

“Lucian Greymark, is what Aurora said true?”

Lucian’s face went pale. Sweat gathered on his forehead.

“Alpha Rowan, this is all a misunderstanding. There is nothing between Selene and me. She saved me once, and I only wished to repay her.”

“She saved you?”

Lucian did not dare raise his head. “I was once hunted by enemies. After I was wounded, I passed out on the street. Selene gave me money and arranged for a doctor to treat me. I survived because of her, so I am grateful.”

Alpha Rowan narrowed his eyes. “If you were unconscious, how did you know it was her?”

“When I was half-awake, I saw an moonstone brooch on my benefactor. Later, I saw that same brooch on Selene, and Selene admitted it herself. I would never dare lie to you.”

“Where is the moonstone brooch?”

He looked at Selene. “Take it out.”

Selene swayed where she stood and bit her lower lip hard.

Lucian urged her, “Selene, take out the brooch and let Alpha Rowan see it. Then he will know we did not deceive him.”

Selene avoided his eyes. “I… I didn’t bring it.”

“You did,” Lucian said anxiously. “I saw it just now.”

Alpha Rowan looked at Selene.

Selene’s face turned white. She could only take out the moonstone brooch.

Alpha Rowan glanced at it and recognized it immediately.

“Is this not Aurora’s brooch? I gave it to her for her birthday. Why is it in someone else’s hands?”

Selene began to tremble.

I choked out, “Selene said a few days ago that she liked it. I told her Father gave it to me and that I could not give it away casually. But Mara said Selene was my cousin and that it was only a brooch. She said I was stingy and cruel to my own pack. Selene cried and begged me. I had no choice.”

Alpha Rowan clearly knew the heroine’s soft nature. He knew this was exactly something she would have done, and he did not doubt me at all.

Only Lucian froze.

He turned to me sharply, his voice dry.

“You mean this brooch is yours? The person who saved me back then… was you?”

He grew agitated. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

“You never asked.” Besides, the heroine had never known Lucian fell for Selene because of that incident.

I knew only because the Script had told me.

Lucian swayed slightly, pain written across his face.

Alpha Rowan sneered, looking at Lucian with nothing but disgust.

“So whoever holds the brooch is the one you love? If a man had saved you, would you have fallen for him too?”

He threw the moonstone brooch at Lucian’s head.

“If you did not want to be engaged to my Aurora, I would not have forced you. Why agree, then go behind her back with another woman? You dared deceive me. You deserve to die.”

Sweat rolled down Lucian’s face.

“Alpha Rowan, mercy. I was deceived too.”

Alpha Rowan said coldly, “Enough. Take him out and execute him with silver. Expel three generations of the Greymark Pack from the Northlands. No Greymark is ever to touch the core territories of the Blackwood Pack again.”

Lucian looked worse than dead. His voice trembled.

“Alpha Rowan…”

He turned back to me suddenly. The disgust and coldness in his eyes were gone, replaced entirely by pleading.

“Aurora, I was deceived. I lost my head for a moment. I never meant to do it.”

I suddenly found it laughable.

These people hurt the heroine without restraint, yet the moment they themselves were hurt, they ran to the heroine first and begged her to save them.

In truth, other than the heroine’s soft heart, they had nothing to rely on.

Alpha Rowan’s gaze fell on me. In my head, the Script had already besilver pistol screaming.

[You cannot let the second key love interest and the second important female character die! They are important characters. Kael is already dead. If they die too, this world will collapse!]

I wiped my tears.

“Father, Lucian and I were once engaged. I cannot bear to watch him die.”

Hope lit in Lucian’s eyes.

“Why not strip the Greymarks of their place in the inner circle and send them south to the northern mines? They can do hard labor there and make up for their sins.”

The northern mines were filled with serious offenders. The conditions were brutal. The food was worse than what dogs ate.

All in all, it was worse than death.

Lucian had once been the glorious heir of the Greymark Pack. Overnight, he became a prisoner. How could he endure such a fall?

His face went ashen, and he collapsed to the floor.

“As for Selene,” I said, glancing at her, “she is still my blood relative. Send her to the border slave camp.”

Selene’s eyes rolled back, and she fainted on the spot.

In my mind, I asked the Script: [Am I not merciful? I spared their lives.]

The Script sobbed. [Thank you, oh great saint.]

Alpha Rowan sighed. “You have always been soft-hearted. Very well. As you wish.”

I smiled.

“Thank you, Father.”
