The Betrayed Luna Chapter 03

The Betrayed Luna Chapter 03

The next day, I went to my design firm.

After coming to Frostvale Pack, I’d opened an interior design company within the territory. Busy as Pack duties kept me, I refused to abandon my dream of being a designer.

I’d barely sat down when my Gamma assistant rushed in, looking distinctly uncomfortable:

“Luna, outside…” She hesitated. “Alpha brought a woman. She’s asking for you specifically—wants you to design a nursery.”

My hand froze on the mouse. A cold laugh rose from somewhere deep inside.

My wolf snarled, urging me to fight back.

When I reached the reception room, Viola was nestled in Alden’s arms, flipping through a design portfolio.

The moment she saw me, she jumped up and glided over, all smiles:

“Luna, you’re here!”

“Alpha says you’re the best designer on the entire continent. Our new home—especially the pup’s nursery—absolutely has to be designed by you.”

She bit down hard on the word pup, eyes glinting with provocation.

Alden sat on the sofa, perfectly composed, watching me: “Heidi, I bought this villa for Viola as a gift for having my pup.”

“You’ve always wanted to make something of yourself in design, haven’t you? I’ll pay double market rate for this commission.”

Looking at that patronizing face, my stomach turned. I let out a cold laugh:

“My firm doesn’t take commissions from trash.”

Alden’s expression hardened: “Don’t be ungrateful, Heidi. The fact that I’m offering compensation at all is me leaving you some dignity.”

“Dignity?” I met his stare head-on. “Alden—do you actually believe that throwing money at me should make me fall to my knees in gratitude and forgive you?”

Viola immediately turned on the waterworks, tugging Alden’s sleeve with a choked voice:

“Alpha, don’t be angry—it’s all my fault. I upset Luna.”

“Let’s just find someone else. I don’t want to make things difficult for Luna…”

“Viola, don’t be afraid.” Alden patted her hand tenderly, then turned to me with a dangerous glare.

“Heidi, you want to test me? One word from me, and you’ll never get another commission on this continent.”

“Go ahead.” I stared him down without flinching.

At that exact moment, Viola let out a sharp gasp, clutching her stomach, face draining of color.

“Alpha… my stomach hurts so bad…”

Alden’s face changed instantly. He swept Viola into his arms, and on his way out, shot me a murderous look:

“Heidi—if anything happens to my heir, I will make you pay!”

I watched their retreating figures with cold eyes. Then turned to the receptionist:

“Get the disinfectant. Mop the reception room three times. I don’t want their filth left behind.”
