The Betrayed Luna Chapter 04
Viola was admitted to the hospital. Alden directed all his fury at me and my parents.
That afternoon, I received a call from my mother.
“Heidi, what’s going on between you and Alden? He suddenly sent Gamma guards to surround the ward and ordered the doctors to stop treatment!”
My skull buzzed. Blood rushed to my head in an instant.
A year ago, my father had contracted a wolf-toxin poisoning. To give him better care, I’d moved my parents to Frostvale Pack’s hospital for top-tier dialysis treatment.
I dialed Alden immediately. The second he picked up, that imperious voice came through:
“Heidi. Ready to admit you were wrong?”
“Alden! You want to punish me, fine—leave my father out of this! He’s done nothing but help you, you bastard!” I snarled, barely containing my rage.
Alden gave a quiet laugh on the other end:
“Viola had a fright because of you. Consider this a small punishment. The moment you come to the hospital and kneel before Viola to apologize—that’s when your father’s treatment resumes.”
“In your dreams!”
I hung up and rushed straight to the hospital.
The moment I reached the inpatient hall, I saw my mother.
Her heart had always been fragile. She stood now clutching her chest, face ashen, arguing with Alden about something.
“Alpha Alden, you can’t be this heartless! Heidi stood by you through everything—and now for some outside woman, you—the Moon Goddess will punish you for this!”
Tears streaked my mother’s cheeks as she gripped Alden’s sleeve, begging.
Alden shook her hand off impatiently:
“I’m not being heartless—Heidi is the one being vicious.”
“She won’t even spare an unborn pup. I’m simply teaching her a lesson.”
My mother shook with fury, pointing directly at his face:
“I know exactly what kind of person my daughter is! You’re the one who cheated first!”
“Enough!” Alden’s face went cold. “Out of respect for your age, I won’t take issue with you.”
“But if Heidi doesn’t apologize—neither of you will receive medical care!”
He turned to leave.
My mother’s eyes rolled back. She collapsed straight backward.
“Mom!” I screamed, lunging forward to catch her falling body.
Alden heard the noise and glanced back. Seeing the woman unconscious in my arms, his step faltered instinctively.
Just as he was about to walk over—his phone rang.
“Alpha… my stomach is hurting again… please come be with me…”
At the sound of Viola’s voice, Alden immediately stopped moving toward us.
He looked at my unconscious mother. Then at his phone. In the end, he said only one thing:
“Heidi, quit the pity act. If you actually want your father to live—go apologize to Viola.”
Without hesitation, he turned and strode toward Viola’s ward.
Watching his retreating figure, the last ember of hope in my heart went out.
I slowly wiped my tears. Dialed Felix.
“The Mate Bond dissolution petition I had you prepare—”
I paused. When I spoke again, my voice had gone completely cold.
“Don’t wait any longer.”
“File it with the Elder Council now.”
“I want a forced dissolution of the Mate Bond.”
