The Day I Went Silent Chapter 10

Chloe’s eyes were filled with sorrow.

Julian took a deep breath and lowered his head in defeat.

He shouldn’t blame Chloe.

Chloe hadn’t done anything wrong either.

Oliver’s eyes were red as he looked at him helplessly: “Dad, Mom is lying, right?

Aunt Sterling isn’t dead, right?”

A sourness stung Julian’s nose. He crouched down and placed his hands on Oliver’s arms.

“Oliver, Aunt Sterling had an accident and went to another world.”

“No… you should call her Mom.

She is my wife, and your mother.”

Oliver stared at him blankly.

Chloe’s eyes widened: “No.

Oliver.

You are not allowed to call her Mom.”

“Julian, what do you mean?

Are you not going to remarry me?”

Her voice was so shrill that Oliver felt a wave of dizziness.

He shook his head in panic, suddenly broke free from Julian’s grasp, and ran toward his room.

Julian stared at his empty hands and said to Chloe: “Chloe, we are already over.”

“You were the one who chose to leave me, to leave Oliver.”

“Olivia is my true wife. I won’t marry you.”

Chloe felt like she was going to explode with anger.

Her breathing was ragged, her eyes bloodshot: “How could you do this to me?”

“Don’t forget, you and Olivia are divorced.

She isn’t even your wife anymore.”

Julian froze.

She was right.

Legally, he and Olivia had no relationship anymore.

It was Oliver who brought it up, and he himself who pushed it forward.

He had even used his connections to get the divorce certificate early.

But that was just a temporary measure.

He had long considered Olivia his real wife.

Julian fought back the sting in his eyes, pushed Chloe aside, and stumbled toward the door.

He arrived at the Sterlings’ villa and pounded on the door again and again.

The door opened, revealing Eleanor Sterling’s cold face.

Seeing it was Julian, her face darkened, her eyes tinged with disgust.

“Mom…”

“Don’t call me that.”

Eleanor said coldly, “I have nothing to do with you.”

Julian said in a low voice: “You are Olivia’s mother, how could we have nothing to do with each other?”

“If I remember correctly, you and Olivia are already divorced, right?”

Eleanor sneered, “The Vances’ threshold is too high for the Sterlings to reach.

Mr. Vance, please go back.”

Julian lost control slightly and grabbed her wrist: “No, we are not divorced.

It was just a temporary measure…”

“You use something like divorce just to coax your little lover?”

Eleanor shook off his hand.

Unable to hold back any longer, she let out a scoff.

“Mr. Vance, our daughter married you, she wasn’t sold to you.

She grew up pampered by us, yet she suffered so many grievances in your family.”

“Since you don’t like her, go find someone you do like.

Olivia won’t bother you anymore.”

“No, I do like her…” Julian muttered to himself, waves of pain radiating from his chest.

It suddenly dawned on him.

It turned out he actually liked Olivia.

He didn’t know when it started, but he had fallen in love with his wife, fallen in love with that lovely girl.

But it was too late, everything was too late.

Julian’s voice dropped, bordering on a plea: “Mom, let me go look at her room, please?”

“She took everything with her before she left, leaving me with nothing to remember her by.”

“I just want to see the place where she used to live…”

Eleanor’s face had been full of disgust, but hearing this, she paused, her expression turning odd: “What do you mean?”

“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. If only I hadn’t let her get on that plane…”

“Please, please just let me go in and take a look…”

Julian was so immersed in his grief that he didn’t notice Eleanor’s strange reaction.

A flash of realization crossed Eleanor’s eyes, and her tone suddenly softened a bit: “It… it’s not your fault.

Just remember the good things about her from now on.”

Julian looked up at her, his eyes filled with despair and shimmering tears.

Eleanor couldn’t bear to look at such a gaze and turned sideways: “Didn’t you want to see her bedroom?

I’ll give you half an hour.”
