The Day I Went Silent Chapter 11
Olivia’s bedroom was neat and tidy.
The shelves were filled with professional books, dotted with many exquisite decorations.
Just as beautiful as she was.
Julian walked in carefully, afraid of disturbing the lingering scent of Olivia.
He looked around and found a diary on the desk.
Julian recognized this diary. Olivia used to carry it with her all the time; she must have left it here during one of her visits home.
He couldn’t help but step forward and open it.
Olivia’s handwriting was delicate, and the pages were densely packed with a young girl’s secret thoughts.
[I saw Julian today.
He is so handsome, fair and tall, the best-looking person I’ve ever seen.
I really like him so much. It’s a pity I’m still young. If I confessed to him now, he would definitely beat me up.
He said he’s my older brother. Hmph, who wants him to be a brother.]
[Those boys who were bothering me were chased away by Julian.
He is so good to me.
I often wonder, does he like me a little bit too?
Can I be with him in the future?
Never mind, I won’t think too much about it. I’ll confess to him after the SAT.]
[Today I let him taste the food I cooked. There was a lot of ginger in the dish, and his face turned green.
Haha, so he doesn’t like ginger. I’ll remember that.
If he makes me mad in the future, I’ll add ginger to his meals.]
[The SAT is coming up soon. How should I confess…]
Reading these few pages made Julian want to smile, yet his nose stung with unshed tears.
He never expected to catch a glimpse of her teenage years after Olivia’s death.
It was a secret crush that lasted for years.
Back then, Olivia was still happy and passionate, longing for a beautiful romance and a bright future.
But as he turned further back, the diary owner’s mood clearly sank.
[So, he already has someone he likes.
I don’t want to like him anymore.]
[He got married. I heard he had a huge fight with his family over it.
I sneaked over to take a look. The person he loves is indeed very beautiful.]
[His child was born.
He must be very happy.]
What followed were large stretches of blank pages and messy scribbles.
It wasn’t until they got married that new handwriting appeared in the diary.
[I married Julian.
I’m so, so happy.
I’ve liked him for so long, and my wish has finally come true.
His child doesn’t seem to like me very much, but that’s okay. As long as I like him, he will eventually like me too.]
[Oliver threw away the food I made again, and even put laxatives in my water.
I called Julian, but he was keeping Chloe company.
I’m mad. Julian, if you don’t come and coax me, I won’t like you anymore.]
[Today is my birthday, but Julian took Oliver to see Chloe because her movie premiered.
I ate the cake all by myself.
I clearly bought the sweetest one, so why did it taste salty.]
[My baby is gone.
It hurts so much.
Julian doesn’t believe me, and Oliver still hates me just as much.
I’m so tired. I can’t hold on anymore.
Julian, liking you is so exhausting.]
[Julian, I don’t want to like you anymore.]
These last few words were blurred, soaked in tears.
It was clear how much the person who wrote them had struggled and suffered.
Julian stood rooted to the spot, his entire body stiff, as scalding tears spilled out uncontrollably.
He reached up to wipe them away, but somehow, the more he wiped, the more they fell.
