The Day I Went Silent Chapter 21

Oliver was at a loss.

He was still just a child, unsure of how to handle the situation before him, and shot Julian a pleading look for help.

Julian sighed and said earnestly, “Oliver, you hurt Mom before, which is why she doesn’t want to talk to you.”

“Why don’t you apologize to Mom?”

Oliver nodded, half-understanding, turned back to look at Olivia, and said timidly, “I’m sorry, Mom.”

“I was bad before. Will you forgive me?”

Olivia accepted this apology without a hint of guilt.

After all, Oliver didn’t just dislike her; he had even thrown sulfuric acid at her.

If he hadn’t been so young, Olivia would have genuinely wanted to send him to prison.

Hearing his apology was the bare minimum.

However…

Olivia lifted her eyelids slightly. “I accept your apology, but even so, I still don’t want to talk to you.”

“I’ve never liked you. In the past, I only had to suck up to you.”

“I don’t have to do that anymore, so you should leave right now.”

Oliver grew anxious, his large eyes turning red. “No.

Dad said that as long as I apologized properly, you’d be my mom again.”

“After you left, Mom, no one cooked for me, and no one helped me with my homework… I miss you so much, Mom.”

Olivia picked at the corner of the table in irritation, shooting a sharp glare at Julian. “Is this Mr. Vance’s new trick?

Using a child to disgust me?”

“Olivia, how could you say that?”

Julian instinctively covered Oliver’s ears. Remembering the two children Olivia had miscarried, his voice softened a bit more.

“My mom bullied you before, so I made her leave.

Oliver was ignorant before, so I made him apologize to you.

In the future… we will have our own children too.”

“Does that make you a little happier?”

Olivia suspected he couldn’t understand human language. “I already told you we have nothing to do with each other anymore. What do you mean we’ll have our own children?”

“I already have a boyfriend.”

Julian froze for a moment, then curled his lips into a smile, confidence showing between his brows. “Impossible. Stop lying to me.

If you’ve made up your mind not to forgive us, why would you make this for Oliver?”

He was referring to the knitted beanie on the table.

The hat was tiny, clearly made for a child.

Olivia said, “Can’t I make it for someone else?”

Julian still didn’t believe her. “Olivia, stop messing around. What someone else?

Don’t tell me you went away for a few months and gave birth to a child.”

His absolute certainty gave Olivia a sense of powerlessness.

Oliver was also convinced, taking two steps closer to hug her leg.

“Mom, please don’t be mad at me anymore. I promise I’ll cherish your gifts from now on.”

Olivia just felt a headache coming on.

Just as she was figuring out how to kick the big one and the little one out, her phone rang.

Someone was calling her via video chat.

Seeing the caller’s name, Olivia’s expression softened for a moment.

She tapped to answer, but the person who appeared on the screen wasn’t Levi; instead, it was a zoomed-in, chubby little face.

The cute little kid smiled so happily his eyes curved into crescents: “Mom.

Mom.

It’s Meilani.

Can you see Meilani?”

Before Olivia could respond, Oliver’s face had turned deathly pale.

Julian also furrowed his brows tightly.
