The Don Bows Only To His Curvy Crush Chapter 14

The Nomination and the Storm

Funny how life works.

“One Night in Rome” premieres. And just like the film that made Ryan Cole famous, it explodes online — reviews, think pieces, everyone talking.

Off the back of it, I get nominated for ‘Best Newcomer’ at the Golden Reel Awards.

The morning the nominations drop, another hashtag lands on the trending list.

Someone dug up my old photos and lined them up next to my red-carpet shots.

The internet loses its mind.

Paid trolls flood the comments — sugar daddy, casting couch, the usual.

Moretti Pictures’s PR machine hits back within the hour.

Statement: the transformation is diet and training.

Half the internet doesn’t buy it.

Then someone claiming to be from the Moretti’s old workers crawls out of the woodwork.

“I knew this Bella Marino girl. She spent two years stalking Don Moretti. Even peeped on him while he was changing.”

“Since when do creeps get to be movie stars? Bar is on the floor.”

“Heard she was fat because of ‘depression meds.’ Everyone’s got a sob story these days.”

I close the app and hand it to the PR team.

I can handle all of the gossip, but I forget that Dante can’t.

He stares at his phone in silence for a long, long time. “You were on medication back then? For depression?”

I look up from the script in my lap.

“Yeah. Dad had just been killed. I went dark for a while. The doctor put me on something.”

“I came off it eventually. I’m fine now.”

He sets the phone down, walks around behind me and presses a kiss to the side of my neck.

His voice comes low, wrecked. “I’m sorry. I should’ve known a long time ago.”
