The Fourth Life She Guarded Me Chapter 09
When I woke up, a white-haired woman was lying in my arms.
That fluffy head was pressed against my chest, dragging me out of my dream and back into reality.
She seemed to sense I was awake. First, she rubbed against my chest, then she lifted her head.
I met those clear violet eyes again.
I looked at her for a long while without speaking.
My fourth life.
The guardian in front of me was even more trouble than the previous three combined.
Domineering, overbearing, and unreasonable.
She ate more than any of them, and she was rougher with me, too. We had barely known each other before she bit a hole in my chest.
And yet, she hadn’t said a single word of contempt.
She had never compared me to anyone else, either.
From the very beginning, she’d demanded a heartbond, terrified I might run away.
None of that was anything like the others.
Maybe this time, she would stay with me a little longer.
Maybe she wouldn’t betray me.
The moment that thought crossed my mind, she arched a brow.
“What are you thinking about? Are you comparing me to someone?”
I snapped back to myself.
“…No.”
I lied.
At a time like this, I knew better than to tell the truth.
“Hmph.”
She gave a cold laugh.
“You’d better not be.”
I pulled open my clothes and saw a small, faded mark over my heart.
“You really did sign a heartbond with me.”
