The Fourth Life She Guarded Me Chapter 25

“Rarely.”

“I see…”

I pressed my lips together.

“Paloma.”

“What now? Can’t you be quiet for a minute?”

I bit the inside of my cheek.

Who was it that never let me be quiet?

You just spent ten days eating me.

Ten days.

Suppressing the thought, I softened my voice. “Paloma, can we move somewhere more comfortable? The ground is too hard. I’m sore.”

She slowly opened her eyes and turned her face toward me.

“You’re so much trouble.”

“Please. I’m exhausted. If I’m too tired, my life force will recover more slowly.”

She blinked.

Then she let out a heavy breath through her nose.

“Fine. I’ll indulge you.”

Her tone was the same as ever, but after saying it, she bent down and scooped me up in her arms.

Then she lightly tapped the ground twice with her toe.

The flat wasteland suddenly started trembling.

The earth split open in a great crack.

The Mother of the Snake-vines’ enormous head emerged halfway from the fissure. Her gigantic, terrifying eyes stared at Paloma, filled with tension.

Paloma said nothing. She merely looked at it, her face a mask of indifference.

The Mother of the Snake-vines clearly panicked.

With a shriek, she immediately recoiled underground.

Not long after, she emerged again.

This time, she opened her mouth and spat out a ball of red light.
