The Girl I Fed For Five Years Stole My Fiancé Chapter 07

Bankruptcy Papers in the Rain

He thinks this pathetic little folder is going to buy him one drop of pity? He thinks it wipes off his hands the betrayal—and Grandma’s blood?

Kane stares up at me, lost.

“Why… why are you laughing…”

I tilt my head slightly. My assistant, standing right behind me, gets it instantly. He steps forward and slaps a folder right across Kane’s face.

Kane freezes for a second. Then his shaking hands pick it up off the wet pavement.

The second he reads the header, his pupils shrink to nothing.

It’s a bankruptcy filing.

My voice is ice.

“You think Griffin Corp tanked because of bad luck?”

“I’ve been shorting your company from day one. That stock transfer in your hand? It’s Monopoly money now.”

Three years. I spent three years personally dismantling everything that mattered to him. And I closed the door on the stupid girl I used to be.

Kane just stays frozen, holding the paper like a statue.

He drops onto his knees in the freezing mud. His mouth opens. Nothing comes out. Just a hollow shell of a man.

He finally gets it. He’s lost it all. And he’s lost me forever.

Later, Kane gets arrested for causing a disturbance at the summit. Held for fifteen days.

While he’s locked up, he calls a lawyer. Signs every asset he has left over to me. Voluntarily.

His lawyer tracks me down. Face all tangled up, delivering the message.

“Mr. Griffin says this is what he owes you. He knows it’s not enough. But he wants a chance to make it right… Please. Take it. Let him breathe a little easier.”

I stare at the transfer papers. All I feel is disgust.

Make it right?

He’s still trying to buy himself a clean conscience with money. He actually thinks emptying his bank account is going to let him sleep at night?

I take the money anyway. Every cent of it is mine.

I use it to start a charity foundation. In Grandma’s name.

Grandma was the kindest person I’ve ever known. She spent her whole life helping anyone she could.

I wanted to do something for her.

But Mia Jensen taught me one hard lesson.

Kindness without teeth just becomes the knife somebody stabs you with.

So the foundation has a very clear mission.

We fund smart, hardworking girls from poor rural towns. Girls who—after long, careful vetting—actually understand what gratitude means. We give them school. We give them a shot at a real life.

But the vetting? Ruthless. Toughest background and character checks in the industry.

If a girl starts getting funny ideas—if her gratitude turns into entitlement—the foundation cuts her off. Immediately.

At the same time, we partner with the HR departments of every major corporation. We built an industry-wide blacklist of frauds and toxic characters.

Mia Jensen’s name?

Right at the top.

The list spreads through the industry like wildfire. Every legitimate door in her career slams shut. No reputable company will touch her.
