The Heiress’s Revenge Chapter 06
Three days before the wedding. I attended a major auction.
In the hallway, I ran into Kieran. He was a guest appraiser. Talking quietly with a collector. He stopped mid-sentence when he saw me. Walked over.
“Looking for me?”
I glanced at his guest badge. Didn’t answer.
He was already refusing. “If it’s about the wedding, I can’t help you. I only see you as a sister. And… Skylar’s been fragile lately. Terrified everyone’s abandoning her. I don’t want her hurting because she lost me as a friend too.”
He saw the auction catalog in my hand. His expression shifted. “If it’s about this piece…” His throat moved. “I’d advise you to drop it. Greyson’s here. He’s after this necklace. For Skylar.”
“Thea.” His voice went rough. “Don’t fight him on this. Just let Skylar have it. Please.”
I couldn’t understand these people’s logic.
Kieran had seen Skylar once at a charity gala. Before I’d returned to Wentworth. She became the one he couldn’t reach.
After I became the Wentworth heiress, they finally met properly.
Twenty-some years between us. Lost to two months of her.
I was done with him. Walked past. Into the auction hall. Sat near the back.
The catalog lay open on my lap. I stared at that page.
An emerald-cut sapphire pendant necklace. My mother’s family heirloom. Passed down through generations. An engagement gift.
I remembered that deep blue at my mother’s throat. She’d told me—her mother’s dowry, meant for her daughter.
After the car crash, someone stole her jewelry. It vanished overseas.
