The Mafia Don Killed My Groom Then Buried Me Alive Chapter 05

The Don’s Little Show

Everyone freezes.

Adrian doesn’t raise his voice.

He doesn’t have to.

He fills the whole courtyard just standing there — black coat, dead eyes, that face carved out of ice.

The socialites drop to their knees like puppets with cut strings.

“Don Vitale — please — we’re so sorry —”

Selene?

She flips a switch.

One second she’s a spoiled little tyrant, and the next she’s acting like the sweetest woman alive.

She glides up to him, slips her arm through his, and tilts her face up with a sweet smile.

“Adrian, baby, I thought you had meetings all day.

What are you doing here?”

He doesn’t answer her question.

“Didn’t I say this wing was off-limits?

To everyone?

Why the hell are you inside?”

His voice is flat.

But his eyes — his eyes are the eyes of a man deciding who dies first.

Selene actually shivers.

She recovers fast.

“Baby, there was a rat sneaking around in here.

Some skank crawled in and I chased her down.

I was protecting your privacy.”

Adrian’s eyes flick past her, scanning the wing.

“You didn’t go inside the house?”

“No!

No, I swear.

We handled her in the courtyard.”

Her friends pounce on the save.

“She was protecting you, Don Vitale!”

“That trash could’ve been an assassin!”

“Selene just loves you too much — please don’t be mad at her.”

Adrian’s face softens.

Barely.

Just a crack in the ice.

“Fine.

Just don’t come here again.”

Selene pouts.

“But why not?”

Then it clicks — the couple photos.

She lights up.

“Adrian, sweetheart… I get it.

I saw.

You hide our pictures in here because it’s your special place, right?

So why don’t I move in?

Live here with you?”

She’s batting her lashes like a spoiled girl begging for a favor.

Adrian’s face turns to stone again.

She wilts.

“Baby… did I say something wrong?”

Adrian’s eyes drift to the window of my wing.

The corner of his mouth curls up.

A tiny, cruel smile.

He pulls Selene against his chest.

Loud, so it carries.

“No, sweetheart.

I just think this place isn’t good enough for you.

If you want to move somewhere, it should be the master suite.”

His arms are around her.

But his eyes never leave my window.

He’s waiting.

Waiting for me to come running out crying, jealous, breaking.

Selene practically melts.

“Really?!

You’d let me have the master suite?”

The master suite.

Mrs.

Vitale’s suite.

My suite.

Adrian nods.

“Of course.

You’re such a good girl.”

He keeps going, louder.

“This wing is my private space.

If it weren’t for you, none of these clowns you brought in here would be walking out alive.”

The thugs and the socialites go pale.

Selene wraps herself around his waist.

“I must have done something amazing to deserve you.”

Adrian leans down, whispers loud in her ear.

“You know what I love most about you?”

“What?”

He pinches her cheek.

“I love the way this face looks when you tell me you love me.”

His eyes — still on my window.

Selene’s cheeks go pink.

“Oh!

Right!” She lights up.

Runs over to my body.

Grabs my arm and drags me across the stones like a sack of laundry.

She dumps me at his feet.

“Baby, look — this is the little rat that snuck in.

I already took care of her for you.”
