The Mafia Princess’s Revenge Chapter 05
Adriano pulled out his phone. “Two hours ago, she said she wanted to personally go pick up Elisa for the birthday gala.”
“She asked me for the exact location of that complex in Mexico. I was in the middle of handling a shipment—didn’t agree. Then she left the estate on her own. The bodyguards lost her.”
Giulio’s face was ashen. “Phone’s off now. Can’t find the car either.”
As he said this, all four men seemed to realize the same thing simultaneously. The room went dead silent.
Then—
They all turned to look at me.
My heart sank inch by inch.
“No.”
Before they even opened their mouths, I was already shaking my head. “It wasn’t me.”
Nicola’s gaze slowly dropped to the Ricci ring in my hand.
“Someone contacted you yesterday. Then you suddenly tried to run. And today Marta’s gone.”
My face drained of color. “Those two things have nothing to do with each other.”
Giulio finally spoke. “Where are you hiding Marta?”
“I don’t know!”
Giulio’s eyes went cold in an instant.
“You were planning to run off with a stranger, and now you’re claiming you don’t know anything?”
“Because he said Mama is still alive!” My voice rose beyond my control. “She’s waiting for me!”
All four men’s expressions changed at once. Adriano spoke coldly: “Sofia’s been dead for twenty-one years. You’re still using her as an excuse?”
“I’m not!” I sat up violently in bed.
The IV needle ripped from my hand. Blood ran down the back of my wrist. “I’ve never even seen Marta! I have no idea why she’s missing! And I certainly didn’t have anyone kidnap her!”
Nicola stared at me. “Then why did you run?”
In that moment, I suddenly didn’t want to explain anymore. No matter what I said, it was just excuses to them.
Sure enough—not ten minutes later, a bodyguard rushed into the room.
“Mr. Greco. Miss Marta’s car has been found.”
Giulio stood immediately.
“Where?”
“West Port.”
My blood froze solid.
West Port—where Mama’s people had been waiting for me last night. Every pair of eyes in the room landed on me again. Adriano even smiled—a smile that looked like it could devour me whole the very next second. “What a coincidence,” he said.
I shook my head. “No… it wasn’t me.”
Nicola walked toward me. “Still lying?” His hand shot out and clamped around my throat, dragging me off the bed. The moment my feet touched the floor, my legs buckled—but he didn’t stop. He dragged me into the adjoining treatment room.
Nicola shoved me roughly into the stainless-steel basin and wrenched the faucet on.
Ice-cold water flooded into my ears. My skull felt like it was splitting apart. “Where did you put Marta? I’m asking you one last time.”
“It wasn’t me.”
I was crying. “I’ve truly never seen her.”
The next second, my face was slammed into the water. Freezing liquid surged into my sinuses. I thrashed instinctively—but Nicola’s hand pinned the back of my neck until my lungs started to burn. Only then did he haul me back up. I coughed violently.
“Where is she?”
“I don’t know…”
Again and again.
My throat felt scorched.
My chest felt like it was splitting open.
Finally, Nicola released me. I slid to the floor beside the exam table, my wet hair plastered to my face, my body trembling uncontrollably.
Adriano said nothing. He simply took out his phone. Fifteen minutes later, a tall man walked into the room—the Vitale family’s interrogation specialist.
The moment I saw him, my hands and feet went ice-cold.
