The Mafia’s Lost Daughter Came Home. Then She Tore the Family Apart. Chapter 09

“Why… why would you do this?”

Leo’s eyes were bloodshot, his voice cracking.

He couldn’t process it. The sister he’d fought to protect was a cold-blooded killer.

Seeing her cover blown, Chiara stopped hiding. She pulled herself off the floor, wiped the blood from her lip, and let a sick, unhinged grin spread across her face.

“Why? Because you’re all idiots.”

She pointed at the three brothers, laughing. “I played the ‘wide-eyed innocent’ for over a decade, and you fell for it every single time. “

“All it took was a few fake tears and you’d have handed me your hearts on a silver platter. “

“You were willing to crush your real sister into the dirt for me. You made it so easy, it would’ve been a crime not to use you.”

Every word was a jagged blade to the brothers and Donna Moretti.

“Your father entrusted you to us… you were an orphan…” Donna Moretti clutched her chest, racked with heaving sobs of regret.

I let out a cold laugh and tossed a file onto the table.

“An orphan? You actually believed that story about the driver who died for this family?”

Enzo froze, then scrambled to open the file.

“Chiara was never that driver’s daughter,” I said, exposing the lie they’d lived for twenty years.

“She’s the granddaughter of the nanny who delivered me. That nanny was fired shortly after, but not before she swapped us at birth so her own blood could live like royalty. “

“She invented the orphan story so you’d treat her like a sacred cow.”

The revelation hit the room like a physical blow.

Donna Moretti’s eyes rolled back, and she collapsed into a fit.

Enzo and Marco stared at the DNA reports and birth records, and something inside them shattered completely.

They had discarded their real sister, left her to survive on scraps, all for the sake of a servant’s granddaughter.

A thief who had stolen her life. And they had let that thief try to kill their mother.

“AAAH—!”

Enzo dropped to his knees, clutching his head, a raw, guttural howl tearing out of him.

Leo slapped himself across the face—hard enough to split his lip—tears streaming down his face.

“What have we done… we’re monsters.”

From blind favoritism to total betrayal to soul-crushing regret—all in one night.

They finally saw the truth. But it was far too late to matter.

Chiara watched them fall apart without a shred of guilt. If anything, she laughed harder.

“Regretting it now? Too late. You idiots deserved every second of being played.”

She turned to me, a wild, murderous glint in her eyes.

“Think you won, Reese? If I’m going down, I’m dragging you to hell with me!”

Before the sentence even finished, she whipped a paring knife from her sleeve and lunged straight for Leo, the closest target.
