The Mafia’s Lost Daughter Came Home. Then She Tore the Family Apart. Chapter 10

In the center of the living room, Chiara was backing away, dragging Leo with her.

The blade still pressed white-hot against his throat.

Enzo was pacing like a caged animal. He spun toward me, eyes blown wide with panic.

“Reese! For God’s sake, save him! Please!”

“Just get him out of this and I’ll do anything—whatever you want, I swear!”

I stood rooted to the spot, arms folded, my face a mask of total indifference.

“Save him? Give me one good reason why.”

My voice was flat, dead. “When he sent his goons to break my legs for her sake, nobody came to save me. “

“Now the snake he spent years feeding is finally sinking its fangs into him. It’s his karma.”

The color drained from Leo’s face. Blood was already trickling down his neck, staining his silk collar a deep, morbid crimson.

Despair finally broke him.

“Reese… I’m so sorry…” he choked out, his eyes fluttering shut.

“Don’t worry about me. Let her do it. I… I deserve this.”

Chiara realized I wasn’t flinching. She shoved the blade deeper in frustration.

“Don’t you dare bluff with me, Reese! This is your own brother! Are you really going to stand there and watch him bleed out?”

I let out a sharp, mocking laugh.

“Brother? To me, he’s less than the stray dogs at the gate. “

“Go ahead—slit his throat. It’ll save me the trouble of cutting him out of my life later. Thanks for taking out the trash.”

I took a slow, predatory step forward.

“Well? Do it. What’s the hold-up? Losing your nerve, or did you realize you’ve got no leverage left?”

I’d spent years sharpening psychological warfare in rooms far more dangerous than this.

Someone like Chiara was a glass vase in a thunderstorm. She would cracked in the end.

The hand holding the knife began to tremble violently.

She had banked everything on Leo being my weakness. She never imagined I’d simply stop caring whether he lived or died.

“You… you’re a monster…” she whispered, her voice fracturing.

“Is that the best you’ve got?”

I flashed a cold, lethal smile. Between my fingers, a heavy silver coin had already slid into position.

The second her focus wavered—the moment the blade drifted a fraction of an inch away from Leo’s jugular—I snapped my wrist.

A silver blur cut through the air. The coin struck her wrist with the force of a bullet, hitting the nerve dead-on.

“AH!”

She shrieked as her hand went numb. The knife clattered to the floor, ringing against the marble.

I closed the distance in a heartbeat, driving my heel into her chest.

She flew backward, slamming into the heavy oak coffee table with a sickening thud.

She coughed up a spray of blood and slumped there, broken.

Leo collapsed to his knees, gasping for air, clutching his neck.

I looked down at Chiara’s crumpled form.

“Taking hostages? You’re going to need a lot more practice in your next life.”

I turned to Enzo, who was still paralyzed. “What are you waiting for? Call the police. Attempted murder and aggravated assault. That should keep her rotting in a cell for a long time.”

Enzo snapped out of his trance and fumbled for his phone.

Chiara stared up at me, and for the first time, the mask of the ‘innocent sister’ was gone. In its place was nothing but pure, unadulterated terror.

She knew it was over.
