The Seat Swap That Got Me Harassed To Death Chapter 04

Emily lifted her head, looking hurt and completely innocent.

“You were in the restroom for so long. I really couldn’t hold on anymore, so I sat down. Please don’t be mad.”

Her eyes reddened as she hurriedly got to her feet.

“I’m sorry, Claire. I’ll leave right now.”

Ethan grabbed her arm and forced her back down.

“Just sit here. Don’t worry about her.”

The older woman beside us immediately chimed in, her voice sharp and grating.

“If you’re not feeling well, then sit here. We’ve got your back. Nobody’s gonna bully you.”

Emily looked troubled, her eyes shining with tears as she looked at me.

“This feels wrong. Claire’s clearly upset. I should go.”

She started to stand.

Ethan quickly caught her and turned on me.

“Claire, look at her! She’s already this sick, and you’re still trying to throw her out? Do you even have a heart?”

A man in glasses shot to his feet, his face full of righteous outrage.

“Why are you being so damn difficult? It’s just one seat. What’s wrong with letting Snowball rest for a while?”

Several other passengers joined in, their voices growing louder and louder.

“I’ve never seen anyone so nasty. Is that seat made of gold?”

“Snowball was out there donating to charity while people like you were hiding somewhere!”

Emily lowered her eyes, hiding the satisfaction in them. Then she looked back at me with an apologetic expression.

“Claire, it’s not that I don’t want to get up. Everyone’s telling me to stay.”

She hesitated, then added softly, “Why don’t you just take my seat instead?”

I stared at her. Then I smirked.

If she was so determined to pin this on me, then fine.

I’d let her learn what it felt like when the mess she made came back to bite her.

“Fine. You can have this seat.”

Emily froze for a second.

Then she broke into a grateful smile.

“Thank you, Claire. I knew you were a good person.”

“Why don’t we exchange contact information? Once we get off the train, I’ll set aside some time to thank you properly.”

Thank you?

I know what that ‘thank you’ means.

But I still played along and added her contact.

Then I left.

As I turned and walked out of the carriage, Emily pulled a bag of snacks from her luggage.

She smiled and started handing them out to the passengers around her.

“Please, don’t be mad at Claire. I’m sure she has her reasons.”

“These are homemade cookies I made myself. It’s my own special recipe. Everyone, please try one.”

She went from person to person, handing them out with a smile as sweet as honey.

The mood in the carriage warmed almost instantly.

“Snowball really is beautiful inside and out. She’s still defending that woman!”

“No wonder she’s so popular. She’s got such a big heart!”

The older woman took a bite of the cookie and practically lit up.

“Oh, this is delicious! It’s way better than anything you can buy at a store!”

The corner of my mouth curled up as I watched the whole thing with cold eyes.

She was trying to make this much bigger than it needed to be.

I knew what she planned to do.

She wanted everyone on that train to catch the disease, then pin the whole thing on me.

Too bad for her.

She was about to find out she’d miscalculated.

A week later, I suddenly got a message from Emily.

Claire, I’ve planned a special livestream at my place just to thank you. Can you come over tonight?

An address was attached below.

My eyes darkened.

I replied that I’d be there on time.

She wanted to frame me?

Fine. Then she’d better make sure she was actually capable of pulling it off.

I’d been preparing for this trap for a long time.
