The Stolen Savior: He Loved The Wrong Sister Chapter 08

After a full night of emergency treatment, Snowball finally pulled through.

The weight on Lucian’s chest finally lifted.

But while out of danger, Snowball was still weak and needed to stay at the animal hospital for observation.

“Lucian, you haven’t slept all night. Go home and rest,” Camille said gently. “Snowball’s out of danger. We can come back tomorrow.”

Lucian didn’t want to leave. But for some reason, images of those people beating Nora flashed through his mind.

At the time, he’d thought Snowball wasn’t going to make it. He’d been blinded by rage and hadn’t stopped them.

But now that Snowball was safe, much of his anger had faded. He started to worry about Nora.

Was she okay?

She’d been bleeding so much when he left.

Camille had swung that golf club without restraint. He’d heard a dull thud against bone.

The thought made Lucian’s heart clench. He couldn’t stay at the animal hospital any longer. He drove Camille home in a rush.

The house was calm. Everyone was busy with their tasks, as if last night had never happened.

But Lucian’s instincts told him something was missing.

“Where’s Nora?” he asked the estate manager. “She was badly hurt last night. Did anyone take her to the hospital?”

The estate manager’s expression stiffened. “I… I don’t know. When I woke up, Miss Hartley was already gone.”
