The Stolen Savior: He Loved The Wrong Sister Chapter 27
During the year she’d dated Lucian, she and Snowball had formed a deep bond. Snowball adored her, and she loved him just as much. If Snowball hadn’t been the last gift from Lucian’s mother, Nora might have considered stealing him from the Hawthorne estate.
Seeing Nora hesitate, Lucian pressed his advantage. “While you’ve been gone, Snowball’s been practically depressed. He wouldn’t eat a thing. He’s lost so much weight.”
The words worked instantly. Nora’s heart ached. “If he wasn’t eating, you should have done something! He just recovered. How could he go without food?”
With that, Nora rushed into the living room, searching for Snowball.
Then, with a loud “Woof,” a white beast came flying at her and knocked her flat on her back.
The beast was fat as a pig, pinning Nora to the ground and frantically licking her face, impossible to push away.
Nora fell silent.
What. Part. Of. Him. Had. Lost. Weight.
He was even fatter than before—so fat she couldn’t even lift him.
Lucian stood in the doorway, struggling to suppress his laughter. Before, Nora had been heavy too, and when Snowball launched himself at her, her weight had been enough to catch him. But now Nora was ninety pounds lighter, while Snowball had gained two. He still threw himself at her the same way, and Nora simply couldn’t take it.
Thankfully, once Lucian had laughed enough, he came to her rescue. “Snowball, stop bothering your mom. Come to Daddy.”
Snowball immediately released Nora and bounded over to Lucian.
Nora got to her feet, brushed off the dog fur, and glared at Lucian in fury. “Liar!”
Then she turned and walked out, not wanting to spend another minute in the Hawthorne house.Â
