The Widow’s Fate They Chose Was My Escape Plan Chapter 14
The report on the floor seemed to weigh a thousand pounds. It took him a long moment to bend down and pick it up with trembling hands. The second he read the words, he froze, as if struck by lightning.
Leaning in to see, Ivy raised her brows.
“Is this real? Lena is terrified of death. Why would she agree to die with someone?”
“What if it’s just another one of her ploys for pity?”
“What did you just say?” Hayden turned on her, his stare cold enough to kill. “Don’t forget—without Lena, you might have died long ago. You would never have had the right to become a Sterling, let alone my wife.”
With every word, another shade of color drained from Ivy’s face.
Even in the years he had despised her, Hayden had never spoken with such brutality.
In that moment, Ivy realized that everything had spun far beyond her control.
“Mr. Sterling, we found this in Miss Lena’s room…”
Ethan recognized the document at a glance.
His hands shook as he took it and flipped through the pages. Suddenly, his eyes went red.
The last page—the one bearing his signature—clearly stated that Lena irrevocably waived all rights to the Sterling family trust and terminated all financial ties with them.
So Lena had stopped wanting them a long time ago.
That night, the Sterling family fell apart.
Adrian coughed up blood and lost consciousness. He was rushed to the hospital.
Newly married, Ivy was served separation papers by Hayden’s lawyer. Her joint credit card was frozen, and security barred her from entering Grant Capital.
As for Julian and Ethan, they secretly left New York and drove south on the interstate, toward Miami.
