The Widow’s Fate They Chose Was My Escape Plan Chapter 16

The car stopped. The door opened, and a hand with long, elegant fingers was extended to me.

I froze.

I had heard Sebastian was terribly ill. Who was this?

“I came to meet you.”

His voice was low and faintly weak.

It was Sebastian Quinn, my future husband.

His hand was cool, but his grip was firm as it enclosed mine.

The wedding music began. Sebastian took my hand and led me down the red carpet, step by step, into the ceremony hall.

There were quite a few guests. They smiled and offered Sebastian their congratulations. Then he stopped, turning with me to face the front.

I tightened my grip on my bouquet as the officiant, licensed in New York State, said cheerfully, “Lena Sterling, do you willingly enter into marriage with Sebastian Quinn?”

“Sebastian Quinn, do you willingly enter into marriage with Lena Sterling?”

“Now, please exchange rings!”

The officiant’s voice rose with each line. After the rings were exchanged, my heart hammered against my ribs. Only then did it truly hit me: we had completed our vows, the officiant had signed the marriage license, and we were now husband and wife.
