Their Favoritism Resulted In A Cruel Outcome Chapter 12

They had discussed sending me out of state, claiming I needed long-term treatment, or having Connor publicly date Blair for a while.

They were worried I wouldn’t cooperate.

In the end, Connor suggested forging an emergency detention order from the governor’s office.

His plan was to keep all the women in the old detention center for one night and use the threat of my father and brothers being executed to force me to cancel the engagement. He believed he knew the head of security, that every door was under his control.

My father and three brothers hesitated.

But blood was still running from the cut on Blair’s wrist.

She asked them if they really couldn’t bear to let me be frightened for even one night.

So they agreed.

After hearing the recording, the governor demanded to see Connor in the presence of lawyers and investigators.

“I used to think that even if you were impulsive, you at least knew which lines could not be crossed.”

He shoved the fake order toward him.

“Do you know what that seal on the page stands for?”

Connor lowered his head.

“I know I committed a crime.”

“No, you don’t.”

Daniel slammed his hand on the table.

“To you, a governor’s order was a prop to comfort a woman. A detention center was a basement where you could force your fiancée to submit.”

“Today you forged a terrorist attack. What about tomorrow?”

“Do you think the entire state government exists for you to sort out your love life?”

Connor’s jaw tightened, but he offered no defense.

Daniel turned to the Worthington men on the video feed.
