They Canceled My Ticket I Canceled Them Chapter 10
Over the next week, Marcus, Daniel, and Tyler went everywhere they thought I might be.
They went to my old company, only to be told I had resigned and that they could not disclose any further information.
They went to the apartment building where I used to live before moving in with Marcus. A new tenant had moved in long ago.
They even drove to my hometown. My uncle told them I hadn’t been back.
The Elena who had always waited for their decisions was gone. I had deactivated my social media, turned off location sharing, and canceled the joint travel credit card.
Late one night, Marcus sat in a bar, a graveyard of empty beer bottles on the table in front of him.
Daniel and Tyler sat across from him, their faces grim.
“Still nothing?” Marcus asked, his voice rough.
Tyler took a long pull from his own beer.
“We’ve checked everywhere. She wiped her accounts and hasn’t used any of our shared services.”
Marcus turned a glass slowly in his hand.
“When we fought before, the farthest she’d go was the convenience store downstairs. She’d sit by the window and wait for me to find her.”
“This time, she didn’t leave a single clue.”
Madison sat beside him and carefully reached for his sleeve.
“Stop drinking. Ellie probably just wants some time alone. Once she’s not angry anymore, she’ll come back.”
Marcus violently shook her hand off. Madison stumbled, nearly hitting the corner of the table.
“She revoked legal documents and hired a lawyer to deal with the apartment. Does that sound like she just ‘went off for a few days’?”
Madison’s eyes instantly filled with tears.
