We Saved Two Werewolves And Now Our Possessive Mates Won’t Let Us Go Chapter 02
Three days ago, the Blackmoon Pack held a public reception for members of other packs.
The night before, Fiona packed Hadrian a lunch and reminded him not to drink too much.
The next day, a photo of the lunchbox showed up on Hadrian’s account with a single caption:
“Even my meals are decided for me. Suffocating.”
The comments were full of mockery:
“A Blackmoon Gamma getting managed like this by a human woman? Embarrassing.”
“Human mates are experts at emotional manipulation and control.”
Hadrian said nothing.
And Jacob liked the post.
After reading it, Fiona only said, “Enough.”
She logged into her account and posted a public declaration ending the mate bond.
At the time, I was sitting nearby, packing up the things Jacob had left at my place.
The second I saw Fiona’s post go up, I made mine too.
Fiona frowned and tried to stop me.
“This is between Hadrian and me. You don’t need to do this because of me.”
I shook my head.
“I’m not doing it because of you.”
“If someone humiliated me like that one day, can you honestly say Jacob would stand up for me?”
Fiona didn’t answer.
We hadn’t even packed half our suitcases when we heard tires screech outside.
Then came heavy, hurried footsteps.
“Veronica!”
His voice cut through the door, and my shoulders tensed.
Fiona walked over and pulled it open.
Jacob stood at the bottom of the steps, still wearing his black Blackmoon Pack combat coat, the collar hanging open carelessly. His dark gray hair was windblown. His face was pale, and his eyes were rimmed red.
“Where’s Hadrian?”
Fiona crossed her arms, expression unreadable.
“Not here.”
“Jacob, unhinged wolves aren’t welcome here. You’ve come to the wrong place.”
He acted like he hadn’t heard her. His gaze slid past her and landed on the open suitcase in the living room.
His breath caught. He stared at me.
“You’re really leaving?”
I stepped out from behind Fiona, trying to look braver than I felt.
“We already posted the declarations.”
“Jacob, I’m not kidding.”
He stared at me, pain twisting across his face.
“Just because Hadrian screwed up, you’re throwing me away too?”
“I came straight back from the border. I didn’t even get my wounds treated before I came here, just to hear you tell me you want to break the bond?”
As he spoke, he yanked open his coat.
The black shirt underneath was soaked with blood. A deep gash ran along his ribs, like something had raked him with claws.
My chest tightened. I took a step forward without thinking, but Fiona spoke first.
“Being injured doesn’t buy you a free pass, Jacob.”
His jaw tightened, and the red around his eyes deepened.
I forced myself not to look at the wound and said through clenched teeth, “This was never just about Hadrian.”
“Your pack thinks it’s acceptable to mock human mates. Today it was Fiona. Tomorrow it could be me.”
“I don’t want to wait until it happens to regret not walking away.”
Jacob took a sharp step forward.
“I never thought that!”
Fiona was about to step in when he suddenly stopped.
Then, in the next second, he dropped to his knees on the stone steps.
Fiona and I both froze.
This Gamma, one of the most respected wolves in the Blackmoon Pack, was kneeling in front of me.
