We Saved Two Werewolves And Now Our Possessive Mates Won’t Let Us Go Chapter 03
I couldn’t move.
Jacob lifted his face, his eyes bloodshot.
“Veronica.”
“I would never stand there and let them humiliate you. I never treated you like some accessory.”
“You have my card and house keys. Even the code to my backup gun safe is your birthday.”
“I gave you all of me.”
“Believe me. I didn’t even really read the caption. I just hit like without thinking.”
His voice kept dropping until it was almost a plea.
“Hadrian messed up. If you want me to beat the hell out of him for you, I will.”
“V, don’t leave me. Please.”
For a second, I almost gave in.
But before I could say anything, Fiona cut in coldly.
“You didn’t hit like by accident.”
“You saw the comments. You saw Hadrian do nothing.”
“And you did nothing too.”
Jacob swallowed hard.
“I thought people were just piling on, and Hadrian would deal with it.”
“I didn’t think it’d turn into this.”
Fiona gave a short, humorless laugh. “That’s the problem. It’s not that you didn’t think. It’s that deep down, you wolves don’t respect humans, not even the human who’s your mate.”
Just as the tension peaked, a black SUV tore into the yard and slammed to a stop outside.
The door opened, and Hadrian got out.
He looked even worse than Jacob. There was a makeshift tourniquet wrapped around his shoulder, and his face was pale.
“Fi.”
“Let me explain.”
Fiona’s expression stayed cold.
“Hadrian, there’s nothing left to explain between us.”
Hadrian took a step forward before he seemed to realize what he was doing, panic all over his face.
“I didn’t post that.”
“I had a few drinks at the reception and left my phone in the lounge. Someone used my account to post it. The moment I saw it, I deleted it.”
Fiona looked at him blankly.
“So?”
Hadrian stalled at that single word. A few seconds passed before he said quietly, “So it doesn’t reflect how I feel.”
“I have never once felt suffocated by you.”
“If anything, if you hadn’t kept looking out for me, I probably would’ve worked myself into the ground by now.”
“Fi, I know the real problem isn’t that someone got hold of my phone. It’s that I didn’t step up to protect you fast enough.”
By the end, his voice was nearly hoarse.
“That’s on me.”
Fiona’s eyes flickered, but she still didn’t say anything.
Then tires screeched at the gate again.
A tall, striking woman stepped out of the car.
